Value & Meaning building

Ultimately, man should not ask what the meaning of his life is, but rather he must recognize that it is he who is asked.

__Viktor Emil Frankl

What is  “Meaning” ?
To me:  A personal  or subjective  experience in definition. for something to  be “Meaningful”  it must hold Value and– in my relationship with this something or someone, concept, goal, object, human or life-fom, I must “esteem” it to be more value in comparison to other somethings in a context, landscape or gestalt.

Esteem

respect for or a high opinion of someone

Respect

Admiration for someone or something that you believe has good ideas or qualities.

Value

the importance or worth of something for someone
how useful or important something is

Meaning.

  • meaningful… description of information, that is:
    • that is formed out of background of discord
    • that is relative: relative  to a topic, study, paradigm, “game” , time-space location, happening, or world- view.
    • that is defined  in language, symbols or gesture,
    • that is prioritized in importance – intellectually and emotionally.
  • meaninglessness:  information that is not meaningful and therefore  remains, or is relegated to the background.

Hierarchy of needs

https://echopen.files.wordpress.com/2016/12/maslows-hierarchy__needs-pe.png

Hierarchy of Needs model

When i worked the phones , one of the useful templates was”Maslows Hierarchy of Needs”. This is a loose diagram on the basic structure of personal needs a person maintains as he/she moves towards “personal actualization” or growth and social productivity as Maslow saw the individual.
The real motivation of this diagram ―published with Motivation and Personality  often taught diagram in psychology classes , was to suggest a foundation of “needs” were to be discussed when studying the potential of the individual and the transition to actualization of positive accomplishments in family, community, ecosystem, etc.
As  one might expect ― an actual diagram for each person would differ a bit from person to person… this point- has even  been debated in psychology articles over the decades.

https://echopen.files.wordpress.com/2016/12/my-hierarchy-of-whatever.png?w=360&h=307

SO  in  working the phones in the past;  after allowing one to vent as i was trained::
if it was clear the calling -person was in crisis, i would sway  the “client” to focus on his basic needs.  try to get them to focus one the tenant that needed addressed the most at that moment.
Its very easy to forget ones self  in work , family- , and distractions these days…
Our my needs being met on a daily basis? am i weakening my health by not caring of myself
am i responsible to myself (or even others, arguably)  by taking care of my own tenants?

Fun time!  below is a  downloadable image (right click and download)

Hourly Mood and Symptom Chart

Mood charts and symptom charts are simple tools for tracking symptoms over along period of time. But many mood disorder managers may experience intrusive mood fluctuations or other symptoms (anxiety for example) in  shorter periods of time.
Mental Health  Consumers  diagnosed with  Rapid Cycling Bipolar Disorder, Personality Disorders, Post-Traumatic Disorder, for example, can experience fast changing moods, energy levels or anxiety. Mood can shift to extremes, multiple times a day,
In any case, rapid cycling of moods can be debilitating, making it difficult to function through ones daily life.

I thought it might be helpful to create a downloadable  chart for tracking  moods and symptoms  hourly, or over  intervals over a day. This mood chart is for those who are trying get a handle highly fluctuating moods.

Hourly mood and Symptom Chart

So I made a simple chart for tracking mood and symptoms hour by hour if necessary.
the left thumbnail is a view of this chart.
the right is an example of what one might look like filled out.
(sorry if it looks a little clumsy.)

The chart has enough columns to chart 48 hours. Since charting hour by hour may be a bit tedious for ones needs , the top row is left blank so one could label the time slots  that suits them best.

you may download this PDF mood chart freely r if you wish,
I made and its free. click the link below for PDF
(readable with Adobe Acrobat, Foxit reader, Open office etc.)

Daily Mood Chart and Emotions chart

Mood and Emotions chart in  now in Doc and Odt  format .
A Mood Chart is a simple tool that people diagnosed with Mood Disorders  such as Bipolar Disorder, Major Depression, Borderline Personality Disorder, and Schizo affective disorder use from time to time, for tracking their symptoms and Affect mood level.

With the K.I.S.S (keep – it- simple-stupid) attitude in mind, a mood chart that can be made to meet any personal symptoms and then taken to to a doctor and therapist.

Why keep a mood chart?
Mood charts can give a consumer and his/her professionals a better idea of the cycling, symptoms and possible triggers of symptoms over a long period of time. Thus a mood chart is a tool for personal awareness and an aid for a doctor who is prescribing treatment.

From my post my post: Charting my Moods Bipolar
That post includes an example of how to fill out a mood chart and a free down loadable simple mood chart in PDF format.

I now have an update of that Mood tracking chart available in ‘.Doc’ format ( readable in in MS Word) and in Open Office Writer format.
Also Available in those formats  is the Daily Emotions Chart for Special Needs Children, previously posted in PDF form with explanation.

to do list: a simple task and time management chart

One of my goals in the up coming new year is to become better at being organized.  Staying focus and organizing task can be a difficult challenge, at times , for me. Basically, I allow myself to be distracted easily.
I am counting on some help from friends or other sources, to  help with my goal… but I thought I would take the time to develop a simple chart an organized  “To Do” list, pictured in the thumbnail to the left.(click on it for the full view).

Below is the Scribd view:
